Help Shape One of New Zealand’s Great Rides
The Timber Trail is something truly special — a journey through native forest, rich history, and unforgettable landscapes. But like all great places, it needs care, hands-on effort, and a community who believes in keeping it at its best.
That’s where Friends of the Timber Trail come in.
We’re a passionate group of volunteers rolling up our sleeves to make a real difference on the ground. From clearing water tables and restoring trail sections, to building picnic areas, shelters, and new enhancements — we take on the jobs that make the ride better for everyone. (Check out some of our projects)
These are the projects that often sit just out of reach — and together, we bring them to life. Whether you can join us for a single working bee, help out now and then, or get involved more regularly — every bit counts.
No experience? No problem.
Got practical skills? We’d love to have you.
Just keen to get stuck in and enjoy a bit of hard mahi in the outdoors? You’ll fit right in.
People come from near and far to be part of this — not just for the trail, but for the people. There’s always time for a yarn, a shared lunch, and the kind of satisfaction that comes from a good day’s work in a special place.
